Black Minds Matter UK: Untold Stories Project

Black Minds Matter UK’s “Untold Stories” initiative celebrates the mental health experiences of older Black individuals as part of Black History Month.

This year’s Black History Month theme, “Reclaiming Narratives,” focuses on highlighting the often-overlooked stories of Black communities. Through this project, Black Minds Matter UK seeks to honour the mental health experiences of those over 60, and to encourage them to share their experiences with mental health, reflecting on how identity, culture, and upbringing have shaped their perceptions.

Participants can contribute through written stories or video/audio recordings, with younger people encouraged to support older family members in sharing their narratives.

How to share your story with Black Minds Matter UK:

Option 1: Send a written story.

Aim for a maximum of an A4 page.  Send your written story to Olivia@blackmindsmatteruk.com with the email subject of ‘Untold Stories’

Option 2: Send us a video/ voice recording of your story from your phone.

You can WhatsApp it to Black Minds Matter UK on the number 07467 873 926 . Aim for up to 60 seconds.

If the above two options don’t work for you, email Olivia@blackmindsmatteruk and she will help you share your story.
