The Wild Mind Project has introduced two new nature-based mental health programs, aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ youth and young people to manage their mental health.
LGBTQ+ Wellbeing Programme
The programme is suitable for 11 to 15-year-olds. Specifically designed for LGBTQ+ youth, the programme runs for five weeks at a private nature plot in Stanmer Park. Participants can engage in nature activities like habitat creation, foraging, and wildlife observation, combined with creative workshops including wool weaving, wood carving, ink making, and open-fire cooking. The program offers a supportive space for queer youth to share experiences, connect, and build friendships. Occasionally, specialists lead workshops to deepen the experience.
This program is funded by the Heritage Fund.
