About the service and what to expect
Friends, Families and Travellers (FFT) is a leading national charity working to end racism and discrimination against Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people regardless of ethnicity or background, and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life. Issues ranging from discrimination to chronic exclusion from health services can often lead to mental health difficulties or ‘bad nerves’
FFT supports individuals and families through local outreach in Sussex, and offers a National Helpline for anyone further afield who may need some advice or information. The Service Delivery team are always happy to assist you.
Outreach support
The FFT Service Delivery team consists of members with a range of lived experiences, so they can often understand what you may be going through. They are there to support you face-to-face, over the phone, or online. They know first-hand the difficulties faced and the effects of these on your mental wellbeing, and can assist you as little or as much as you need.
They know that it can often be hard to find someone you trust with these matters so they can help introduce you to other services if you need Group activities FFT run popular group activities, including wellbeing days, yoga classes, and workshops where you get to meet like-minded people from across Romany, Traveller or Roma communities.
These activities are a great way to discover you are not alone, make new friends and to build a network of support you can trust
